Constructed entirely from solid oak, it presents a rich, deep patina that has developed over nearly two centuries, showcasing the natural beauty and grain of the wood. The table's surface boasts its original waxed polished finish, which has been lovingly built up over many years, creating a wonderful, lustrous gloss that beautifully highlights the fiddle back quarter sawn Oak and the character of the timber. The table's design is both elegant and functional, featuring a circular plank top that is remarkably flat and true, with no signs of bowing or twisting, a testament to its structural integrity and careful preservation.
The top is supported by a beautifully turned central pedestal, which sits upon a tri-form base of three cabriole legs. These legs have a graceful, sweeping shape, and are terminated with charming, primitive round feet, adding to the table's visual appeal and stability.
A key feature of this table is its original and fully functional tilt-top mechanism. The table pivots smoothly on its axis, and is secured by its original wrought iron latch.
