The base carries the moulded signature M. ESSER; the underside shows the underglaze blue crossed-swords and impressed swords, model number 78713, and the weiss annotation, all appropriate for this model and period. An exemplary German Art-Deco animalier composition emphasizing silhouette and contained movement; Esser’s Otter is a noted model within the Meissen repertoire.

Excellent, virtually as new, with only trivial kiln and shelf traces to the foot; no chips, cracks or restorations.
