Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency design spans from approximately 1811 to 1830, drawing heavy inspiration from ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian architecture. Furniture from this period features neoclassical symmetry, bold carved monopodia, brass inlays, and rich mahogany constructed with strong classical proportions.

Primary woods included solid cuban or West Indian mahogany, often accented with flame mahogany veneers. Secondary woods inside drawer linings and frames typically consisted of native pine or oak, complemented by cast brass handles and embellishments.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved details such as lion paw feet or acanthus leaves, hand-cut dovetail joinery on drawers, natural age-related patination on the timber, and cast brass hardware showing original oxidation.

A substantial serving table works well as a statement hall table in a spacious entryway or positioned behind a sofa in an open-plan room. Juxtaposing the rich mahogany against neutral walls and contemporary art creates a balanced aesthetic.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight, radiators, and strong heat sources to prevent cracking or fading. Clean regularly with a soft dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year following the grain.
