Mark Seabrook Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
...and I would think most of these "toys" would certainly have been broken over time and just thrown away, which would explain why I haven't seen any before....they are both decorated in the oxide colours, yellow, orange, green and brown with the attractive blue of the tin glaze coming through....both in excellent unrestored condition...
