We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau decorative glassware from the late 19th and early 20th centuries is characterised by sinuous, organic forms inspired by nature. Metal overlays, often crafted from pewter, bronze, or silver, were fitted directly around blown glass to form stylized foliage, insects, or abstract natural patterns.

These vessels typically combine tinted or cased glasssuch as amethyst, green, or frosted glasswith cast metal mounts made of pewter, spelter, or electroplated silver. Additional embellishments sometimes include bezel-set glass cabochons or semi-precious stones.

Authentic period pieces exhibit natural wear along the high points of the metal work, subtle oxidisation in the recessed detail, and marks indicative of hand-finishing on the glass base. The metal overlay should fit precisely to the contours of the glass vessel without loose gaps or modern adhesive residues.

Position the piece where natural light can pass through the tinted glass, such as on a window sill, mantelpiece, or console table. Display it as a standalone sculptural object or pair it with dark polished wood surfaces and brass accents to complement the metallic overlay.

Dust the item gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid immersing the vessel in water or using abrasive liquid cleaners, as moisture can become trapped between the metal casing and the glass surface, promoting unwanted corrosion.
