We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Wedgwood lustreware refers to decorative porcelain pieces produced in the early twentieth century featuring metallic and iridescent glaze effects. Designed under art directors like Daisy Makeig-Jones, these pieces combine whimsical motifs with complex enamel firing techniques.

Lustre glazes are formed by applying metallic salts, such as gold, copper, or silver, onto a previously glazed ceramic body. When fired in a reduced-oxygen kiln atmosphere, a thin metallic film forms on the surface, producing an iridescent wash of colour.

Authentic pieces feature the stamped Portland Vase or Wedgwood backstamp alongside painted pattern numbers beginning with Z. Detailed gold gilding, iridescent multi-toned glazes, and finely painted fantasy or animal subjects are hallmarks of these production runs.

Miniature lustre bowls are best displayed grouped inside glazed cabinets, arranged on bookshelf tiers, or placed on decorative brass trays. Their metallic sheen catches ambient lighting, making them suitable accent pieces for dark wood or mirrored surfaces.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft-bristle brush to avoid abrading the gilding. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, harsh chemical solvents, or submersing the items in hot water, as moisture can degrade delicate glaze layerings over time.
