An original British gold Half Guinea struck in 1808 during the reign of King George III.
The reverse shows the crowned shield of arms with the Latin legend BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF:, and the date clearly visible at the base.
This example has circulated and shows typical signs of wear, including light flattening to the portrait, bruises to the rim, and a slight curve to the flan. Nevertheless, the coin retains a good legible profile with warm gold tones and no signs of cleaning. A solid representative example of this increasingly sought-after Regency-period gold coinage, struck in 22 carat gold (c. 91.67% fineness).
The Half Guinea series was discontinued in 1813, making these later George III issues increasingly desirable. An ideal entry-level example for collectors of British historical coinage or Georgian artefacts.
