FAQs

The Louis XVI style emerged in France during the late 18th century, characterised by a return to classical straight lines, symmetry, and restrained neoclassical ornamentation in contrast to the preceding Rococo exuberance.

These tables were typically constructed from regional hardwoods such as oak, walnut, fruitwood, and chestnut, selected for their structural durability and dense grain.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, traditional timber shrinkage, hand-planed surface textures, and genuine patination from age and use.

Pairing a rustic wooden table with contemporary minimalist seating or placing it in a clean, neutral-toned room creates a balanced juxtaposition between historical character and modern simplicity.

Maintain antique wooden surfaces by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and periodically applying a traditional beeswax polish to nourish the timber, avoiding silicone-based sprays and direct sunlight.
