Georgian wine tables and kettle stands emerged during the 18th century to serve specific domestic functions, such as holding porcelain teapots, kettles, or wine glasses during social gatherings.

They were typically constructed from dense tropical hardwoods like mahogany, featuring turned central pillars, dished or solid timber tops, and tripartite cabriole or pad-foot bases joined by peg construction.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-turned components with tool marks, natural timber shrinkage, and a rich patina developed over centuries of oxidisation and polishing.

This versatile piece functions effectively as an accent surface beside a sofa, an elevated stand for a reading lamp, or a solitary display surface in an unused corner.

Preserve the timber by maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and applying occasional natural beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
