FAQs

An antique porcelain tea bowl is a small, handleless drinking vessel produced during the 18th and 19th centuries, typically used for drinking tea before the widespread adoption of teacups with handles.

Georgian porcelain was crafted using a mixture of kaolin and petuntse, often fired at high temperatures and decorated with hand-painted enamel colours and gilt accents.

Authentic pieces can be identified by examining the paste, glaze imperfections, foot rim wear, hand-painted details, and manufacturer pattern numbers or factory marks where present.

Antique porcelain tea bowls can be showcased inside glass-fronted cabinets, on open shelving using plate stands, or styled as decorative accents on surfaces like sideboards.

Antique porcelain should be washed by hand using warm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh scrubbing or dishwashers to protect the delicate hand-painted decoration and gilding.
