Gilt and Gesso has dated this Japanese Meiji Brush Pot to the 19th Century.

The impressive hand carved pot and stand measure apx 70cm tall combined, the upper pot section is intricately carved bamboo with hand carved hardstone and mother pearl decoration, featuring an immortal figure and lotus blossom petals made from mother of pearl, the petals are repeated on the delightful carved stand.

This is a rare and fine example, unusual to find with its splendid companion base and mostly in very good condition, considering age and the fragility of some of the parts.
