Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Temple drums were traditionally constructed for religious, ceremonial, and military functions across East Asia. These double-headed percussion instruments were struck during rituals, timekeeping, and community gatherings, often housed within temple complexes.

These drums are typically constructed from a carved wooden shell coated in multiple layers of natural tree-resin lacquer. Stretched animal hide or rawhide forms the drumhead, which is secured along the rim with iron or brass studded tacks.

Authentic pieces feature signs of age including craquelure or shrinkage cracks in the lacquer surface, hand-forged metal hardware, and natural wear along the hide top. The interior wood structure often displays hand-sawn tool marks characteristic of period craftsmanship.

In contemporary interior design, large barrel-shaped temple drums are frequently utilised as statement coffee tables or low focal points in living areas. Their rich red lacquer provides a dramatic pop of colour when contrasted against neutral or minimalist room schemes.

Keep the item away from direct sunlight, central heating vents, and extreme humidity changes to prevent the wood from warping or the hide from cracking. Clean gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh liquid cleaners or chemical polishes.
