Rare Armorial Plaque / Book Cover with Seton Family Crest. Early 19th Century.
An elaborately carved oak plaque with Seton Family Crest - On a ducal coronet, a dragon, vert, wings elevated, and spouting fire. Superbly detailed with a dragon hiding and swirling in finely carved foliage in high relief. Most likely a book cover, with a motto below crest ''Ung roy, Ung foy, Ung loy'': Translates as ''One king, one faith, one law'', reflecting the loyalism of the family.
Condition: Excellent condition with rich and aged dark oak patina. Possibly dated 1822 (to left side of coronet). Fitted in wooden frame for display and protection. [Stand not included].
