FAQs

Refectory tables originated in medieval monasteries where large dining halls, known as refectories, required long tables to accommodate community meals.

These tables are traditionally constructed from solid hardwood timbers like oak, utilizing pegged mortise and tenon joints for stability.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage, and natural patination consistent with age and manual tool usage.

Pair the wooden surface with modern minimalist seating to create a balanced contrast between historical craftsmanship and current design.

Maintain the wood by applying natural beeswax periodically and avoiding direct exposure to excessive heat and moisture.
