FAQs

Traditional farmhouse tables originated as utilitarian surfaces for rural domestic life, typically featuring sturdy construction, generous proportions, and hard-wearing timber surfaces designed for daily use.

Furniture from this period was constructed using regionally available hardwoods such as cherry, oak, elm, and fruitwood, often featuring hand-planed tops and pegged joints.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut joinery, tool marks from traditional planes, natural timber shrinkage, and consistent patination developed through decades of use.

Pairing a rustic timber table with contemporary seating creates a balanced aesthetic that highlights the historical character while maintaining functional modern living spaces.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity, avoiding direct sunlight, and cleaning exclusively with a soft, dry cloth or specialist beeswax to protect the historic patina.
