This is a section from the top of a Victorian fireplace (below the mantlepiece) and features a hand-painted image of Caernarfon Castle, flanked by panels with hand-painted marbling.

This is a true piece of folk art, made of Welsh slate, and was produced in a small workshop in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, mid-Wales, circa 1850
