Minton Porcelain Plaque Of A Scottish Terrier By James Edwin Dean

A fine and large Minton porcelain plaque hand painted with a Scottish ''Scottie'' Terrier by James Edwin Dean. The plaque beautifully depicts the dog in a room setting with a wonderful realism. The plaque is signed to the lower right. James Edwin Dean 1863-1935 was a celebrated Minton artist between 1882-1926 eventually becoming the head artist, some of his work is held by the Victoria and Albert Museum. The plaque is in very good condition and is back stamped for Minton with the date cipher for 1913. The work is mounted in a later gilt frame for wall hanging. The whole is a wonderful dog portrait and fine example of painting on porcelain.
