Staffordshire pottery figures were produced in the Staffordshire region of England from the mid-18th century onwards, reaching peak popularity during the Victorian era as decorative mantel ornaments for middle-class homes.

These figures were typically slip-cast or hand-moulded from earthenware, then hand-painted with ceramic colours over a white tin or lead glaze before being fired in a kiln.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit fine overall craquelure in the glaze, hand-painted details with minor imperfections, hollow interiors with small vent holes, and lack modern maker marks.

They can be displayed prominently on mantelpieces, bookshelves, or enclosed cabinets to add historical character, texture, and a touch of traditional British charm to contemporary spaces.

Keep them out of direct sunlight to prevent paint fading, dust gently with a soft dry brush, and avoid using liquid cleaners or immersing them in water to protect the aged glaze.
