Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French iron garden loungers became prominent during the mid-to-late nineteenth century as public parks and private estates expanded across France. Crafted by metalworkers using wrought iron and later tubular steel, these pieces were designed to withstand outdoor weathering while offering movable seating via integrated wheels.

Traditional construction utilised wrought iron or steel frames combined with woven wire mesh, metal slats, or perforated sheet metal. Components were joined using rivets and manual welds, then finished with layers of lead-based or enamel paint for weather protection.

Authentic pieces exhibit heavy structural weight, visible hand-welded or riveted joins, and genuine paint layering showing natural oxidisation and weathering. Original movement mechanisms, such as cast iron wheels and manual ratcheted recliners, also indicate historical origin.

An iron garden lounger can be styled outdoors on a stone patio, lawn, or terrace alongside potted botanical arrangements. Indoors, it functions as an accent daybed in a sunroom, orangery, or glasshouse when dressed with natural linen cushions and throw blankets.

Maintain painted iron furniture by keeping it clean from debris and applying a neutral microcrystalline wax to seal the surface against moisture. Flaking paint can be gently stabilized with a wire brush, and storing the piece under cover during severe winter weather prevents rust progression.
