FAQs

A sulphide marble is a type of glass marble featuring a small ceramic, porcelain, or metal cameo embedded within the clear glass center, frequently manufactured in Germany during the 19th century.

These items are constructed from molten crown or flint glass enclosing a moulded plaque made from a ceramic-like clay paste known as sulphide or porcelain.

Authentic pieces often display pontil marks, minor surface imperfections, tiny air bubbles within the glass, and hand-moulded details on the internal figurine.

Displaying the item on a small acrylic stand inside a cabinet or on a desk allows light to pass through the clear glass, highlighting the internal silhouette.

Preservation requires cleaning with a soft, lint-free cloth and lukewarm soapy water, avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could scratch the surface.
