An Unusually Petite Pembroke Table.
A charming small table.
This is a lovely example of a Georgian drop leaf Pembroke solid Mahogany table believed to be made around C1820. The table is complete with its original finish and has a lovely deep rich Mahogany colour with lots of patina. The tables original wax polished finish has built up to a marvellous glaze over its long life which exudes character.
This table has an unusually small form for a Pembroke table yet is quite a useful table from having 2 drop-down leaves, making it an ideal occasional, hall, side or sofa table. The table opens via lifting the tops and supporting them via two finger jointed supports which pull out for the tops to rest. These supports are in great condition and operate smoothly. The table also has a lovely little dovetail constructed drawer which operates smoothly, complete with brass knobs to the one side and a dummy drawer on the other side. The table has simple, square tapering legs, typical of the Georgian period and stand proudly on its original lightly polished square cup Brass castors which are well working and aid movement. This rare and petite table is all original, solid and with no joint movement and the tops are flat with no twisting or open joints.
We have just cleaned and waxed this lovely table to give a natural shine and preserve and protect its time worn patina whilst highlighting the Brassware.
Please note; Being an antique item of this age there are obviously many marks, scratches, small stains and dents however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character. We have left it untouched and as it came in from the previous owner apart from just cleaning, polishing and waxing this item.
