Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

Farmhouse tables originated as utilitarian work surfaces in rural homesteads, designed to accommodate large families and farm workers for daily meals and food preparation.

These tables are traditionally constructed from solid hardwoods native to the region of manufacture, most commonly oak, pine, cherry, and fruitwood, joined using traditional pegged mortise and tenon techniques.

Authenticity is identified through hand-planed surface textures, tool marks, period-appropriate joinery such as wooden pegs, and natural patina resulting from decades of wear and waxing.

Pair the rustic texture of the wood with minimalist modern seating and sleek lighting to create a balanced contrast between historical character and clean contemporary design.

Preserve the finish by dusting with a soft dry cloth and applying natural beeswax periodically, avoiding silicone-based polishes and keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity fluctuations.
