Athey Antiques has dated this piece to the Regency era.
The crossbanded top with boxwood stringing detail, the leaves supported on wonderful scroll carved brackets, two frieze drawers to one side with dummy drawers to the opposing side and raised on a leaf carved baluster column support with gadroon detail to the base and acanthus carved plinth, standing on four scrolled reeded sabre legs with lions paw feet and brass castors.

With wear and tear commensurate with age and use, overall this wonderful ( and extremely heavy ) table, with great colour and patina is in good sound condition with all the attributes of William Trotter, one of the finest cabinet makers in Scotland, renowned for producing furniture of the highest quality and style.
