FAQs

Feather pictures are intricate artistic compositions created by arranging natural bird feathers to form landscapes, portraits, or wildlife scenes, gaining immense popularity during the Victorian era.

These pieces generally utilise naturally moulted bird feathers, hand-painted backgrounds on paper or card, glass glazing, and giltwood or wooden frames.

Authentic pieces often feature period framing techniques, hand-cut glass, genuine natural feathers showing age-appropriate oxidisation, and hand-painted elements beneath or surrounding the feather collage.

They make striking additions to gallery walls, study rooms, or traditional library spaces, pairing well with dark wood furnishings and classic academic decor.

To preserve these delicate items, keep them away from direct sunlight to prevent fading, maintain stable humidity levels, and avoid moisture or cleaning agents near the glazed frame.
