Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Colonial treen refers to small, hand-carved wooden functional or decorative objects crafted in regional territories during colonial periods. These items often feature detailed portraiture, cultural motifs, and local timber craft traditions.

Dense indigenous hardwoods such as teak, rosewood, padauk, and mahogany were typically used. Craftsmen hand-carved these hard woods using steel gouges and chisels before applying natural wax or oil finishes.

Authentic period pieces display subtle hand-carving irregularities, hand-tool marks in less visible areas, deep natural patina, and shrinkage or fine splitting along the grain lines consistent with aging.

Mount the carving as a focal accent on a neutral wall, incorporate it into a gallery wall arrangement alongside framed art, or place it in a study surrounded by dark timber furniture.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth. Apply a high-grade clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the luster, and avoid placing timber objects near radiators or direct heat sources.
