Antique Sampler Mary Ayre Aged 8

Description

19th Century Alphabet sampler worked by Mary Ayre aged in very nice original condition and attractively framed in a neat giltwood polychrome frame. The sampler is inscribed handwritten to the reverse,

'sewed by Mary Ayre as a child of 8' 'Nurse for 50 years at Drum & Straloch, died Feb 19, buried at The Chapel of St Marys, Straloch', This measures 33 cms by 18 cms overall including the frame.

From the estate of the Late Robert Bogdan, of Barra Castle Aberdeenshire.
