Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

A George II fold-over tea table is a piece of domestic furniture from the mid-18th century featuring a hinged top that unfolds to double its surface area, historically used for serving tea or playing card games.

These tables were typically constructed from solid mahogany or oak, often featuring brass hinges, internal wooden gatelegs for support, and occasionally subtle hand-carved decorative motifs.

Authentic pieces are identified by period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, genuine patina on the timber, historical brass hardware, and construction methods characteristic of mid-18th-century cabinetmaking.

An antique mahogany tea table can be styled against a living room wall with a ceramic vase or table lamp placed upon it, creating a focal point that contrasts contemporary decor with traditional craftsmanship.

Preserve antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting, and periodically treat the surface with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
