FAQs

French bistro tables originated in the bustling cafes and brasseries of late 19th-century Paris, designed to be compact, sturdy, and easily movable for sidewalk seating.

Authentic period pieces typically feature heavy cast iron or zinc bases paired with slabs of white Carrara marble or polished limestone tops.

Authenticity is indicated by heavy cast iron bases with foundry marks, hand-finished marble tops with natural veining and weathering, and appropriate patination on the metal components.

These versatile pieces function well as compact dining tables in smaller kitchens, breakfast nooks, or as accent tables paired with modern seating to create textural contrast.

Marble surfaces require regular sealing to prevent staining from acidic foods and liquids, while iron bases should be kept dry and dusted with a soft cloth to preserve the finish.
