Regency furniture, spanning the late 18th to early 19th century, is characterised by classical symmetry, heavily influenced by ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian motifs, often featuring dark exotic woods and giltwood highlights.

These pieces were typically constructed from dense cabinet timbers such as rosewood or mahogany, frequently accented with hand-gilded gesso or carved giltwood details, and often topped with white marble slabs.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-turned or carved supports, traditional timber shrinkage patterns, and the rich patina expected from age-appropriate oxidation and wax polishing.

An antique console table provides a strong focal point in an entrance hall or living space, balancing traditional craftsmanship with modern minimalist accessories, lamps, or large mirrors.

Maintain these surfaces by keeping them away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying high-quality beeswax to nourish the timber.
