Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regional cutlery from the Balkans during the 19th century combined local folk art traditions with Ottoman design influences. These pieces featured hand-carved bone handles decorated with geometric motifs, paired with hand-forged steel blades and tines.

These utensils were constructed using polished animal bone for the handles, secured with brass rivets or wire inlays. The functional ends, including blades and fork tines, were crafted from hand-forged steel.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-forged steel with natural surface oxidisation and irregular forge marks. The bone handles display subtle colour variations, hand-drilled dot-and-circle eye motifs, and hand-fitted metal collars.

Antique cutlery can be presented in a shallow glass display case or shadow box mounted on a wall. Alternatively, placing the set on a sideboard top inside a curio tray adds historical texture to a dining space.

Keep bone handles free from excess moisture and direct heat sources to prevent cracking or warping. Steel components should be kept dry and occasionally treated with a light coating of microcrystalline wax to guard against rust.
