Terrier Antiques at Hebden Bridge has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The design, attributed to Henry Hollamby, was made to commemorate Cleopatra’s Needle, a gift from Mahammad Ali Pasha to Britain and which was brought from Alexandria in 1877 and now stands on the Victoria Embankment in London.
