Japanese Edo Wood and Champleve Cloisonne Enamel Netsuke / Manju Kagamibuta (Mirror Lid) Caduceus. Circa 1850 (possibly earlier). Japanese Edo Period.
 
Finely decorated metal champleve / cloisonne Kagamibuta disk lid has design that appears to be a Caduceus, or something similar (a ''T'' shape with something wrapped around it). Possibly the netsuke belonged to a doctor.
 
An early dimunitive and finely enamelled manju with enamels in turquoise, greens and yellow. An extremely rare Masterpiece, made by a highly skilled artisan in the early era of mastering cloisonne techniques in Japan.
 
Material: Wood Bowl with Champleve Cloisonne Enamel on Metal Lid
 
Condition: In excellent condition with some minor marks commensurate with age. No cracks or chips.
