For sale is a fine and rare 20th century hand painted porcelain table, possibly of Italian origin, bespoke made for a member of the aristocracy of the early 20th century. The top of the table has two hand painted porcelain plaques, both of exceptionally large proportions, depicting love scenes from the 19th century. Each plaque is surrounded by ornate gilt work, and hand painted enamelware, as well as seven small hand painted plaques, each signed ''Pruna'', and depicting boating scenes. On the outer edge of the table further gilt work decoration. The large table top fits onto two ornate majolica ware bases, each profusely decorated with further gilt work. The table has a two-piece glass top to protect the painted enamel top, and overall this piece is in excellent condition having been very well cared for.
We believe this piece to be one of a kind and cannot emphasize enough how rare this table is. Having over 60 years experience in the antiques trade, we have never seen anything quite like it. We have asked several other experienced dealers, all with a wealth of knowledge whether they have seen anything similar during their time in the trade, all of whom told us they have never come across anything of the like before.
