Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

French farmhouse tables originate from rural regions, traditionally built by local craftsmen to serve as sturdy, utilitarian surfaces for daily communal dining and food preparation, typically featuring clean lines and generous proportions.

These tables are traditionally constructed from regional hardwoods such as cherry, oak, or chestnut, utilising mortise and tenon joinery with hand-planed tops and robust legs to ensure structural longevity.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate tool marks, hand-cut joinery, natural timber shrinkage, and consistent patination accumulated through decades of use rather than artificial distressing.

A traditional wooden table grounds contemporary dining spaces, pairing effectively with minimalist seating, industrial lighting, or contrasting textures to balance historical character with modern functionality.

Preservation requires regular dusting with a dry cloth, avoiding direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the wood grain.
