Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of trinket boxes originates from the 1920 period in the Neoclassical style. Each container displays a dark blue and white jasperware ceramic composition with an unglazed matte finish, detailed white sprigged decoration, and kidney-shaped bodies with raised lids. The pieces showcase intricate classical bas-relief figural scenes depicting figures beside trees, urns, and mythological groupings. Each trinket box measures 5 cm in height and 8 cm in width. These ceramic items find a practical home on a bedside table to hold small personal items, rings, or jewellery. The matching lidded design allows them to sit separately or together on dressing surfaces, vanity units, or mantelpieces within a bedroom or dressing room.

FAQs

Jasperware is an unglazed vitreous stoneware developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s, characterised by its matte finish and raised classical bas-relief decorations.

These boxes are crafted from coloured stoneware clay bodies, with white ceramic bas-relief motifs applied to the surface using a delicate process called sprigging before firing.

Genuine pieces typically feature crisp, detailed relief mouldings alongside impressed maker marks such as WEDGWOOD on the unglazed base, often accompanied by date codes or country of origin stamps.

Position these small lidded containers on a dressing table, bedside table, or vanity tray to add classical elegance and subtle colour to modern or traditional room schemes.

Dust gently with a soft brush to clean the porous matte surface, and wash using warm water with mild detergent if necessary, avoiding abrasive tools or harsh chemical cleaners.
