Magnificent Regency pollard oak and giltwood console table; of substantial proportions giving major gravitas in striking well figured oak; the shallow rectangular top in well chosen bookmatched veneers above the bold giltwood frieze of finely carved lotus leaves. Raised on substantial scrolled supports, headed with carved giltwood acanthus leaves; flanked by carved corbel brackets and flowerhead paterae to the sides. Terminating on lion paw feet. The rear with flat pilasters and giltwood mouldings. All standing on the well figured bookmatched veneered plinth base.
English circa 1825
Good original condition with a great colour and lovely original gilding showing appropriate signs of wear and minor historic distressing being in sound and stable condition.
