A 19th Century Orangery Potting Shed Table, 106cm wide Carrara Marble Top.
Update
JUST BACK FROM WORKSHOP HAVING LEGS BUILT UP TO MATCH BY APX 16cm, NOW CORRECTLY MEASURING 79cm tall.
A superbly stylish, handsome late 19th century, original English country house orangery and/or potting shed table measuring 106cm with a serpentine, Carrara marble top.
An elegant hardwood serpentine, bow front base with reeded, tapering column legs, with newly turned, matched and fitted tapering lower leg section, see photos, supporting the original marble top. Presented with a handsome timeworn, silvered patination to the base and dry marble surface to the top.
We suspect the lower legs had been cut down, probably due to standing on cold and wet floors, a common thing, we’ve had new lower leg tapering sections fitted which raise the table by 16cm to 79cm tall including the marble top.., the table sits well and structurally excellent, a very useable and versatile table for indoor or outsid
...e use, conservatory, orangery or potting shed, hallway console table, farmhouse kitchen or bathroom etc.
Believed to be mahogany which has had outdoors exposure over time to silver down.
A wonderful antique table of considerable decorative appeal, an interior design piece that can enhance a classic or contemporary space, inside or out.
