Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These rustic 1930 oak folding step ladders display an A-frame construction with a slatted top platform and flat timber treads. The piece has a dry, unrestored condition featuring natural wood grain, visible weathering, and a sturdy fold-away mechanism. Measuring 198 cm high, 56 cm wide, and 14 cm deep, the steps have a practical vertical presence suited for domestic display. In a modern interior, this utilitarian ladder serves as a functional tool or decorative shelving unit for an empty corner, lending vintage industrial character to living spaces. The simple joinery and stripped-back timber finish complement farmhouse or heritage-inspired décors, offering a sculptural silhouette while retaining its original working form.

FAQs

Historically manufactured as functional equipment for domestic cleaning, painting, and trade work, timber stepladders provided portable vertical access using an hinged A-frame mechanism.

Most utilitarian stepladders were crafted from durable softwoods such as pine or fir, fitted with iron hinges, tie rods, and rivets for structural stability.

Authentic pieces exhibit evidence of age and use, including natural surface wear, paint residue from past projects, hand-cut mortise joints, and aged iron hardware.

Designers frequently recontextualise stepladders as open shelving units for trailing houseplants, stacks of books, or bathroom linen storage.

Preserve the natural patina by keeping the timber dry, dusting with a dry cloth, and applying clear beeswax periodically to protect the wood grain without altering paint traces.
