FAQs

The Art Deco movement of the 1920s is characterised by geometric shapes, luxurious materials such as burr veneers, and a fusion of traditional craftsmanship with industrial-age modernism.

Cabinet makers of this era frequently utilised dense hardwoods like walnut, mahogany, and oak, often applying highly figured veneers such as burr walnut to create striking visual patterns on surfaces.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate joinery, traditional hand-polished finishes, genuine timber veneers with natural ageing, and weight indicative of solid hardwood construction.

Pairing a richly grained vintage table with minimalist upholstery, neutral tones, and sleek metallic accents creates a balanced scheme that highlights the texture and warmth of the historic wood.

Maintain walnut furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lifting, and apply microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish and protect the polished surface.
