Description

A fine example of a 3.5" live steam locomotive, The Sterling No1 or 8-footer one of the best known and fasted 4-2-2 steam locomotives of its time.

Built in Doncaster from 1870 the original No 1 is in the National Railway Museum in York. This superb model doesn't appear to have ever been steamed and has a label for the Southwark Model company.

Sizes are for the Locomotive, stand sizes 46" wide, 14" deep, 2" high.

Our stock includes early oak and walnut furniture from the 18th century, as well as more formal pieces from the Georgian period. Clocks, barometers and globes are complemented by Colonial cabinets, furniture and early arms. Their scientific instruments, which include early microscopes, telescopes and equipment such as sextants, provide a fascinating insight into the evolution of technology, whilst demonstrating fine artistry and craftsmanship. One of Hansord’s many exhibitions was entitled ‘From simplicity to complexity with a little eccentricity’ and this continues to be the guiding mantra behind their collection today.
