FAQs

Victorian rosewood furniture gained immense popularity during the 19th century, prized for its dark, richly grained timber and suitability for intricate carving in revivalist and rococo styles.

These pieces typically utilized solid rosewood or walnut veneers over secondary timbers, featuring mortise and tenon joinery, turned pedestals, and hand-carved scrolling details.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetails, natural wax patination, authentic brass castors, and characteristic timber shrinkage consistent with 19th-century cabinet making.

Pairing historical timber pieces with contemporary upholstery and minimalist decor creates a balanced, eclectic interior that highlights the craftsmanship of the antique.

Maintain stable humidity levels, avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading, and clean periodically with microfibre cloths and traditional beeswax to nourish the timber.
