Rare novelty Dunhill Bolide MG motor car table lighter, circa 1930s
The lighter mechanism occupies the passengers seat, when the gear lever is pulled (against a spring) a spark is produced on release, the flame cover is missing.
Chrome plated brass body with original black ''hammerite'' painted chassis.
Missing the windscreen, replaced non original rubber tyres and plastic steering wheel, dents to the bonnet edge and the boot middle, part removed inscription on the drivers door ''Xmas 1935''
In good sound play worn condition, perhaps fallen to the temptation of a child.
Length 6'' or 155mm, weight 356 grams.
As shown in the Blei & Bottoni Dunhill lighter book.
According to the book this model first appeared in the Rue de la Paix in 1934, the second model having the lighter under the bonnet, all known examples are unmarked.
