Georgian C18th Mahogany Birdcage Tripod Supper Table (George Iii)

18th century
Description

A George III period, mahogany birdcage tilt-top mechanism, tripod supper table, dating from the last quarter C18th. A superb quality table, featuring a well figured, single piece, solid mahogany top. Rotating birdcage tilt-top mechanism. Supported by a baluster stem, raised on a tripod of cabriole legs.

An original, and high quality example table, in very good condition and ready for use.

Dimensions:

This table measures approximately 72.5 cm (28.5") tall, and the top is 90.25 cm (35.5") in diameter.

Condition:

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This table is in a very good condition, commensurate with its age, and is structurally very sound and sturdy. All original other than a new catch for the trigger clasp, made from old brass, the hinge section on the block has been replaced, probably due to wear, and wooden collar added to the underside top of the birdcage, again probably due to wear, in order to keep the top of the stem in place when rotating. Some old marks and blemishes on the top, now well polished in. Very good colour, lovely patina, with very good wax polish. No obvious signs or damage or repair. Sensitively cleaned and waxed polished. Ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
