Welsh wall-hanging spoon rack of traditional form in native oak, with a tall shaped backrest with a pierced shaped hanging slot and side supports, over four stages and with a shaped apron below.
It is unusual in having four tiers, especially since the top three have the customary holes for wooden cawl (broth) spoons, whilst the lowest has a long slot - perhaps for bone-handled knives or small wooden ladles or other implements.
Wonderful colour and surface, circa 1770.
Height: 13.5 ins; 34.25 cms
Width: 13 ins; 33 cms
Depth: 8.25 ins; 21 cms
