Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Victorian furniture spans the reign of Queen Victoria (18371901) and is characterised by a revival of historic styles, heavy proportions, intricate carvings, and rich dark timbers such as walnut, mahogany, and rosewood.

Master craftsmen typically utilised solid hardwoods and veneers, particularly figured walnut, supported by traditional joinery methods including mortise and tenon joints, hand-cut dovetails, and robust turnings.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate tool marks, natural patina, age-related timber shrinkage, traditional hand-cut joinery, and the use of secondary woods characteristic of the 19th century.

Integrating period furniture into contemporary spaces creates a balanced eclectic look; pair the rich wood tones with neutral upholstery, minimalist lighting, and clean-lined architectural surroundings.

Maintain antique timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the finish.
