A rustic country oak foot stove from the late 18th/early 19th Century. It would have had a clay or metal bowl containing hot water to warm it up to comfort chilled feet.
It’s had a hard life (!) but that adds to its charm and tells a story. The bottom has had heat so many times is is charred and a hole has appeared.
Also known as a ‘Voetstofie’.
