Demi lune or half-moon tables gained popularity during the Georgian period, often designed to sit flush against a wall in hallways or reception rooms, sometimes constructed to combine into a circular dining table.

These pieces are typically crafted from solid and veneered mahogany, featuring traditional joinery such as mortise and tenon frames, hand-turned legs, and often secondary woods like oak or pine in the framing.

Authentic items show signs of age-appropriate timber shrinkage, hand-cut secondary framing, traditional patina, and tool marks consistent with period cabinet-making techniques rather than modern mechanical production.

They work well as statement pieces in entrance halls or living spaces, styled simply with a ceramic lamp or architectural object to contrast the rich timber tones against contemporary walls.

Maintain the finish by keeping tables away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying pure beeswax to nourish the timber.
