English Regency Period novelty tortoise inkwell, circa 1850
 
Heavy cast brass with remnants of original darkened brass surface finish.
 
Fine detailed patinated surface throughout.
 
Pressing the head releases the catch to raise the shell cover
 
Length 5,1/4'' or 133mm, weight 899 grams
 
All in very good condition with no damage or repair, non original antique glass liner.
