Regency Goncalo Alves Occasional Table

Description

Fine Regency Goncalo Alves (finished all round) one drawer occasional table in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster. Lovely shaped thin turned legs terminating with castors. Single drawer to one side which is mahogany lined with a matching dummy drawer to the back. Beautiful timber and a lovely mellow colour.

Gillows are known to have imported a large quality of Goncalo Alves (also known as tiger wood) from Brazil in the early 19th century. This table bears many of the hallmarks of their quality of manufacture but it is not stamped.
