Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the eighteenth century, Georgian tripod tables typically feature a circular top supported by a central turned pedestal resting on three splayed legs. Designed for flexibility, these versatile tables were historically used for serving tea, display, or holding candles in domestic settings.

These pieces were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany, chosen for its density and deep grain. Construction involves hand-turned central columns, dovetail jointing at the base, and legs mortised into the bottom of the central column.

Authentic eighteenth-century pieces exhibit signs of period craftsmanship, such as hand-cut joinery on the underside, slight shrinkage across the grain of the round top, and natural age-related patination. The underside timber often displays hand-planed tool marks.

An antique tripod table functions well as an accent piece placed beside a contemporary armchair or sofa. The dark mahogany timber creates visual contrast against lighter modern upholstery and neutral wall paint schemes.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the patination. Position the furniture away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage or splitting.
